HOME GROWN TALENT SIGNS WITH ROCKETS
Strathroys own Sam Vokes has signed with the Strathroy Rockets for the upcoming 2014-2015 season. Sam is a graduate of Strathroy Minor Hockey where he player until his major Bantam year. He then played two seasons with the Elgin Middlesex Chiefs AAA and one season with the LondonJr.Knights AAA Major Midgets. This past season Sam played for the Alvinston Flyers Jr.C. The 18 year old was voted the teams Rookie of the year, as well he was the teams Rookie scoring leader and and tied for the teams most goals with 21 snipes. The 6’2” 215 pound power forward was also theLeagues Rookie goal scoring leader. His 21 goals as a Rookie and his 21 assists made his 42 points the leagues second bestamongst all Rookies.
Sam is the Son of former Strathroy Blades Star defenseman and Rockets / Blades “WALL OF FAME INDUCTEE” Darin Vokes.Head Coach Mike Bondy says Sam has a nack around the net and he is looking forward to seeing that talent in a Rockets Uniform full time. As well Sam’s size will also be a welcome addition to the Rockets Line up. Sam has played 23 Games in aRockets uniform over the past 3 seasons but in 2014 he will wear the Rockets Colours proudly dawning the number 19.

Rockets Announce 3 New Hirings
The Strathroy Rockets are happy to announce the following three additions to their Hockey Operations team. All three of these individuals bring a wealth of knowledge and passion to the Rockets Organization.
The Strathroy Rockets are pleased to announce the hiring of London native Brendan Riggin as an assistant coach. Brendan brings with him experience from the JR.C ranks where he was an assistant for two seasons. Most recently he was with the WESTERN UNIVERSITY HOCKEY TEAM in the OUA where he worked as an assistant coach under Clarke Singer. Brendan comes from a strong Hockey background. He is the Grandson of former NHLer Dennis Riggin, the son of former London Knights Star Larry Riggin and nephew of former Washington Capital and Pittsburgh Penguin goalie, Pat Riggin.
Brendan brings a vast knowledge of all aspects of the game not limited to coaching. He is a graduate of Western University where he earned a Masters Degree in Kinesiology, majoring in Coaching and is currently in the process of obtaining his PhD in Sports Management. GM/Director of Hockey Danny Gibson states "Brendan is a committed energetic individual the Rockets couldn't be more excited to have on their Staff" Brendan will join Head Coach Mike Bondy on the Bench but will assist in all areas of Hockey Operations with the Rockets
ASSISTANT TO THE GENERAL MANAGER
The Rockets are happy to announce that Doug England has joined the Rockets as an Assistant to the General Manager.
Doug grew up in the Niagara Region splitting his playing days between Thorold and St.Catharines. He brings many years of Coaching and Managing experience at the Minor Hockey level where he won a Championship.
Doug is a recent Graduate from Sports Management Worldwide where he Studied Hockey General Management and Scouting as well as Sports Revenue Management. He also holds a Degree in Recreation and Leisure Services from Niagara College. He has been in retail Store Management for the past 10 years specializing in the Wireless Communications Industry and is currently in his 5th year at The Source as a Store Manager.
GM Gibson commented "With Doug's management and scouting skills as well as his knowledge of the Games most up to date technologies Doug will truly be an asset to the Rockets" Doug will join Danny Gibson in the Hockey Operations office and around the rinks.
ROCKETS EXPAND THEIR SCOUTING STAFF
The Rockets are happy to annouce they have expanded their Scouting Staff from 7 members to 8. Joining the Rockets Scouting Staff is Mike Elliott. Mike will take on the role of a Regional Scout covering the Jr. C area of Kitchener/Waterloo.
He will also assist in local scouting and will be big part of creating the Rockets scouting schedule. Mike is a Strathroy Jr. B Alumni from the 80's when he played two seasons for the Blades in the fabled WMMC. GM/Director of Hockey Danny Gibson commented "Mike's knowledge and strengths will add to an already very strong scouting staff. We are happy to have Mike, who is another Rockets/Blades Alumni, join the team".

JOIN THE ROCKETS FAMILY
The Strathroy Rockets Billet Family Program plays a major role in our team's success both on and off the ice. It takes special people to open their homes and hearts to our players and we take the utmost care to ensure our players are placed in environments that are conducive to care, understanding and safety.
We ask that our players be treated like any other member of your family. It is important that he respects the rules of his billet family and the billet family respects the rules of the hockey club. The values and principles for success that are essential to become a member of the Strathroy Rockets will be demanded at the rink, in the home, in the community and in school.
Single or double bed per player (player may share a room with another player - but not with host family members)
Laundry and mending are usually done by host family
Dry cleaning is player's responsibility
Long distance phone calls are player's responsibility
Parking space required for player's car
A desk or table with adequate lighting for school work
The Strathroy Rockets currently provide the following benefits to our billet families:
Room and board ($80 per week)
Two season tickets for regular season and playoff games
Complimentary events include annual Awards Night.
